Lenz Vice President Christine Mahin was recently asked to contribute an article to Decatur Living as part of the publication’s spotlight on the culture, talent, and charm of Decatur and its surrounding areas.

Mahin’s article, titled “One Night In Decatur,” delightfully retells a chance encounter with an elderly couple visiting Decatur with an eye towards relocating here. Along the way, Mahin–a transplant from New York–surprises herself by stepping into the role of city ambassador and, later, finds herself hoping that her new friends will someday have the good fortune to call Decatur home.

“After 10 years of living in New York where anonymity rules, I’ve come to cherish walking through the Square—sharing a hug with Diane Capriola at Little Shop of Stories; waving to Dave Blanchard, who is always watering his flowers early in the morning outside the Brick Store; fist-bumping Gareth O’Sullivan as he hurries to a Decatur FC meeting; or exchanging smiles with the ever-stylish Lisa Bobb of Squash Blossom. It’s my absolute favorite thing about the town.”
