On Wednesday, April 9, Worthmore Jewelers — a fine jewelry retailer and Lenz client based in Atlanta — was featured on CBS46 during the 11 p.m. newscast.

Entitled, “Shinola: Keeping it local from Detroit to Atlanta,” the story focuses on the popular, Detroit-based watch and leather goods brand, Shinola; the organization’s “cause-driven” approach to manufacturing; and how these keep-it-local business values parallel with those of small retailers, like Worthmore Jewelers, who carry their products.

Shot at Worthmore Jewelers’ downtown Decatur location, the story features interviews with Worthmore founder and owner, Harris Botnick, loyal Worthmore customer, Michael Giles, and the City of Decatur’s Economic Development Director, Catherine Lee.

“I’m incredibly proud of our PR team for landing what is no doubt one of our best TV hits ever,” said PR Director Ryan Klee. “The piece itself is fantastic, thanks to CBS46’s Jennifer Mayerle, Worthmore Jeweler’s Harris Botnick, and City of Decatur’s Catherine Lee, but it’s the hard work behind it that truly makes it shine. We worked extensively with Shinola’s national PR team, researched all past Shinola coverage, kept in constant contact with the client, got the City of Decatur involved, and honed our pitch to fit exactly what Jennifer wanted. This is a perfect example of the power of collaboration and public relations.”

Lenz Public Relations Coordinator, Rachel Cushing, says the great message behind this story is yet another reason its success means so much to the PR team. “Shopping local is an extremely powerful economic tool that many patrons don’t realize they have,” said Cushing. “So being able to spread the word about the importance of shopping locally and highlight our amazing client at the same time is a win-win.”

Worthmore’s unique take on jewelry retail has been loved locally around Atlanta since they first opened 20 years ago: they were named “Best of Atlanta” by Fenuxe Magazine, Creative Loafing, and Insite Magazine numerous times; “Best Jewelry Repair” by Jezebel Magazine; and “Best Jewelry Store in Atlanta” by CBS News Online and the Georgia Voice.

The store has also recently received significant national recognition: they were named as one of the top five jewelry retailers in the United States by JCK Magazine — the jewelry industry’s leading trade publication; one of “America’s Coolest Stores” by InStore Magazine; and “Best to do Business With” by National Jeweler magazine.
