This weekend, Amplify Decatur took over Eddie’s Attic with five incredible concerts in three short days. More than 700 people came to the shows, which raised $20,000 for Decatur Cooperative Ministry, an organization that works to alleviate homelessness in Decatur and DeKalb County.

This is the fourth year Lenz has acted as the marketing team and presenting sponsor behind the Amplify Decatur shows. Since Amplify’s inception, Lenz has become the driving force behind the marketing efforts for the Amplify Concert Series, promoting the shows in cities throughout the Southeast.

“I’ve been very proud to support Amplify and its parent Poverty Is Real for four years,” said Richard J. Lenz, president of Lenz, Inc. “It started with a uniquely creative and important idea from visionary, Mike Killeen, and then continued to grow with the hard work of Executive Director Spencer Smith and the board. It is amazing what a group of committed people can accomplish if they put their minds to it.”

The three-day Amplify Decatur concert series took place June 20-22 at Eddie’s Attic, and featured performances by Jennifer Daniels, Five Eight, Those Darlins, The Learning Groove, and a Bruce Springsteen celebration featuring nine performers.

A few of the things DCM can do with the funds raised by Amplify this weekend:

  • Provide two years worth of housing, counseling, and support for a family of four
  • Prevent 40 families from being evicted from their homes
  • Supply a family of four with 200 days of meals and shelter at Hagar’s House
  • Purchase 120,000 pounds of food to give to families

Everyone at Lenz is thrilled to have contributed to this project.
